Recertification - Your Responsibility

2014 is here.  You have probably received your first notification (And so it begins is how Gordon introduced the Tournament that plays beginning February 21st).  There will be more matches this Spring than ever before.  This means more opportunities for each of us to demonstrate our skills and commitment to soccer as officials, and of course, opportunities to earn our game fees.
What do you need to do to prepare for these opportunities?  There are many things, but today I want to focus on the most basic requirement.... RECERTIFICATION.  In order to accept assignments in 2014 you need to be registered for 2014 and this means going to a Recertification class.  The State Director of Instruction has scheduled a number of these sessions for you.  Yes, you have to complete the test on-line prior to attending the clinic (that is a detail you need to pay attention to).  BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT IS THAT YOU ENROLL AND ATTEND ONE OF THESE CLASSES.  IF YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED FOR 2014 (RECERTIFIED) YOU DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE AND YOU CANNOT LEGALLY BE ASSIGNED OR ACCEPT AN ASSIGNMENT TO A MATCH.
Who is responsible for making sure you are recertified?  It is your responsibility as a Referee and yours alone.  We look forward to seeing you in class and on the pitch this Spring.  Thank you.
