New Referees 13 YO and Above

Becoming a referee and are 13 years old or older?

Congratulations on making the decision to become a Referee.  Step one is getting certified.

Please read the entire page before following each step!

        1.  Start the process by creating a new account in the Kansas Referee system.
(Use the referee's information, NOT the parents information)

We suggest the following when you are creating this new account:

a.       Use your email address for your user name (which must be unique for each and every Referee).
b.       If you do not have a unique email address for the Referee you can create a Gmail account here.
c.       Create your password.  Use this same password for your US Soccer Profile.

      2.  Search Entry Level Clinics and select the clinic you want to attend and enroll in this clinic.
This is now a 1 day clinic.

a.       We recommend selecting a clinic two weeks out so you can complete the online course before the
attending the clinic (this is a requirement for certification).
b.       You pay at the clinic ($35 Check – made out to KRDC, money order or cash).

       3.   Create a profile in the US Soccer Learning System by clicking on this link.

a.       Use the same Login and Password you used for the Kansas Referee System.
b.       Fill in the personal information to build your profile.
c.      You must be 13 years old or older to create a profile in the US Soccer Learning System.
d.      Those who are younger than 13, please continue to check KansasReferee.org for new
          information and updates

       4.   Sign up for the grassroots online Referee Course by clicking on this link.

a.       You will have to pay for the training with a credit card ($20).
b.       Complete the training.
c.       Take the test.
d.       Download and print the certificate of successful completion, and bring it to the Entry Level Clinic and
give it to the instructor, along with your clinic payment.

       5.   If you are 18 or older, you will have to complete the US Soccer Safe Sport Training.

a.       This training is mandated by USOC and USSF if you are involved in games with minors.  There is no
          cost for this training.
c.       The Access Code for US Soccer is:  YC3E-6P5G-YYIL-CS2M
d.      Download and print the certificate of successful completion, and bring it to the Entry Level Clinic and
give it to the instructor, along with your clinic payment.

       6.   If you are 18 or older, you will have to complete a background check.

b.       Print your background check request.  This will have to be presented to the assignors of the league
where you are being assigned game schedule.  When traveling out of town this document should
          always be taken with you.
