New Referees 13 YO and Above

Becoming a referee and are 13 years old or older?

Congratulations on making the decision to become a Referee.  Step one is getting certified.  

Please read the entire page before following each step!

        1.  Start the process by creating a new account in the Kansas Referee system.  

           (Use the referee's information, NOT the parents information)

        

a.        Use your email address for your user name (which must be unique for each and every Referee).

b.       If you do not have a unique email address for the Referee you can create a Gmail account here.

c.       Create your password.  Use this same password for your US Soccer Profile.

      

      2.  Search Entry Level Clinics and select the clinic you want to attend and enroll in this clinic. This is now a 1 day clinic.

 

       3.   Create a profile in the US Soccer Learning System by clicking on this link.  

 

a.       Use the same Login and Password you used for the Kansas Referee System.

b.       Fill in the personal information to build your profile.

c.      You must be 13 years old or older to create a profile in the US Soccer Learning System.

 

       4.   Sign up for the grassroots online Referee Course by clicking on this link.

 

a.       Keep your US Learning Center Profile Open.

b.      Click on the red action box on the right side of the screen

c.      Register for the class.

d.      Complete the training.

e.      Take the test.

f.       Download and print the certificate of successful completion. Bring it to the Entry Level Clinic and give it to the instructor, along with your clinic payment.

 

       5.   If you are 18 or older, you will have to complete the US Soccer Safe Sport Training.

 

a.       This training is mandated by USOC and USSF if you are involved in games with minors.  There is no cost for this training.

b.       Safesport Training Registration 

d.      Download and print the certificate of successful completion. Bring it to the Entry Level Clinic and give it to the instructor, along with your clinic payment.

  

       6.   If you are 18 or older, you will have to complete a background check.

b.       Print your background check request.  This will have to be presented to the assignors of the league where you are being assigned game schedule.  When traveling out of town this document should always be taken with you.

      2.  Search Recreational Grassroots Entry Level for 12 and under and select the clinic you want to attend and enroll in this clinic.  This is now a 1 day clinic.
